Good morning, everyone! So whenever I get a question from more than one person, I feel like it’s something I need to address. Eventually, I will have it together enough to create a REAL FAQ, but today is not that day. That said, an oft-asked question is: what is the cost of blogging?
1. Domain – this will be ~$12/year.
2. Hosting – this runs the gamut of pricing. I would advise you this is a time where you get what you pay for. More expensive hosting typically leads to: better customer service for you, if you need it; less downtime for your site due to hosting issues; and generally better options as far as bandwidth and storage space.
That’s it. Everything else is free. Sure, there are premium upgrades (like themes, paid plugins, etc), but to run a self-hosted WordPress blog, the above two things are all you MUST have to get started sharing your unique voice and perspective with the world…but I’m about to get into a whole separate topic altogether, so let me stop.
I hope this helps! 🙂

Also, it's possible I used affiliate links in this post. These links never add to your cost, but they do help me keep the lights on around here. You can read more about that here.
